Frequently asked questions

We’re here to help you have the most relaxing, memorable holiday possible. If there’s anything you’re unsure about, take a look through our FAQs below — and don’t hesitate to get in touch! You can also find all the details in our full Terms and Conditions.

Before you arrive

Do you take a deposit?

Yes — to secure your holiday, we take a 30% deposit at the time of booking. The rest is due 6 weeks before you arrive. If your stay is less than 6 weeks away when you book, we’ll ask for the full amount upfront.

Can I put a holiday on hold while I decide?

Absolutely! We’re happy to hold your chosen cottage for 3 days so you can firm up your plans. If we don’t receive your deposit within that time, we’ll release the dates so someone else can book.

Can I move my holiday to a different date?

Life happens! We’ll do our best to help you move your holiday, subject to availability and a small admin fee. If it’s less than 8 weeks before your stay, it will be considered a cancellation — we’ll go over the options with you.

What’s your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, we’ll charge a £50 cancellation fee and the non-refundable booking fee. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll pay depending on how close it is to your arrival date:

What time can we arrive?

Your holiday home will be ready from 4pm. This gives our housekeepers time to prepare everything to the highest standard — fresh, clean, and ready for you to relax.

Can I charge my electric car?

We don’t currently have EV charging points at our cottages, but we’re always looking to improve. In the meantime, there are local charging stations available in the area.

How do I get the keys?

Super easy! Each cottage has a key safe near the door. We’ll email you 5 days before your arrival with everything you need, including your key code.

Can I book a short break?

Yes, many of our cottages offer short stays — some all year round, and some seasonally. Check out our collection of short break properties to find the one that suits you.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely — we love dogs! Many of our cottages are dog-friendly. Just look for the pawprint symbol when browsing or search by dog-friendly properties on our site.

What’s included in the property?

Every property is a little different, but all of our cottages come with these home comforts as standard:

  • Bed linen and towels
  • Hairdryer
  • Fresh linen and towel change for 2-week stays
  • Highchairs and cots on request
  • Toiletries (shampoo, body wash, hand soap)
  • Cleaning essentials: washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towels
  • A fully equipped kitchen
  • Each property’s listing has full details, so you can pack knowing what’s waiting for you.

Is WiFi available?

Yes, all of our cottages have WiFi. Being in Cornwall, speeds can vary depending on location — and occasionally, there might be disruptions outside our control. But rest assured, most of the time, you’ll be well connected.

Can I request a highchair, cot, or stairgate?

Of course! Just let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure they’re ready for your arrival.

What kind of heating is provided?

All of our properties have heating — whether it’s underfloor, central, or night-storage. Some cottages also offer cosy extras like wood burners or open fires. Firewood and kindling are often provided to get you started.

Do you offer long stays?

Yes, selected cottages are available for extended stays of up to 28 days. Get in touch and we’ll help you find the perfect long-term retreat.

During your stay

What should I do if I have a problem while I’m there?

We hope everything goes smoothly, but if something comes up, we’re here to help. In an emergency, please contact emergency services first. For everything else, our office number (in your digital guidebook) connects to our Out of Hours team who’ll be happy to assist.

Is there parking available?

It depends on the cottage — some have private parking, others don’t. However, we provide all guests with a free parking permit for the Porthleven Shipyard Car Park, conveniently located in the centre of the village.

When is check out?

We kindly ask guests to check out by 10am so we can prepare for our next arrivals. If you’re up early, there’s time for a last walk along the harbour before heading off.

Do your cottages have BBQs?

Due to health and safety regulations, we don’t provide barbecues. However, there are plenty of great places nearby to enjoy al fresco dining or a Cornish picnic!

After your stay

I left something behind — can you send it to me?

Yes! We hold on to any lost property for up to a month. Let us know as soon as possible and we’ll get your items back to you — just cover the postage cost.

I have feedback or a complaint — who do I speak to?

We really want you to enjoy every moment of your holiday. If something isn’t right, please let us know while you’re still with us so we can do our best to make it better. We take all feedback seriously and value the chance to put things right.
