About Gwel Teg
Just a short stroll from the beach, Gwel Teg (Cornish for ‘Beautiful View’) is situated on one of Porthleven’s most recognisable landmark settings. Guests will wake up to breathtaking views, unwind in stylish coastal interiors and enjoy all the thoughtful amenities designed to make your stay one of comfort and relaxation. Everything that Porthleven has to offer is on the doorstep and the beach just around the corner. The south facing terrace is the perfect place to soak up the views and watch the sun setting over Mounts Bay in the summer or watch the famous storms in the winter. Whatever the season, it is the ideal choice for a stay on Porthleven.
This beautiful Victorian house offers an attractive downstairs open plan kitchen/ living area flooded with light from the large bay window where you can sit and watch the local boats coming and going as well as the far-reaching coastal views. For those winter stays, there is a cosy wood burning stove to enjoy after a bracing walk along the nearby Southwest Coastal path.
On the first floor there are two well-appointed double bedrooms with King Size beds. The master bedroom is decorated with a calming palette of blue & white colour and enjoys glorious harbour views from the large bay window. Adjacent is a large family bathroom and a second shower room. Stairs to the second-floor lead to a sunny twin bedroom and bijou home office working area with high speed Wi-Fi on the landing.
Outside at the front of the house is a patio with table and chairs for guests to relax, soak up the sunshine and take full advantage of the house’s elevated position in the village.
At the rear, there is a useful boot room and laundry space leading to a small courtyard.

After a long journey, Gwel Teg provided the perfect welcome. From the moment we arrived, Gwel Teg felt welcoming and set up for a perfect Cornish holiday. Gwel Teg was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully decorated, with everything we needed: from a well-equipped kitchen to cosy bedrooms where the sea at night could be heard. We especially enjoyed our time spent on the terrace overlooking Porthleven's beautiful harbour and sea views. Gwel Teg provided us with the perfect location to create wonderful memories. Lovely week, we come every year. This is the second time we have stayed at Gwel Teg since it has been available to let. It is finished to a very high standard and the beds are all comfortable and the bathrooms very accessible.
We have been holidaying in Porthleven for many years, we have only ever used Porthleven Holiday Cottages (though other companies are available) and have always had only good things to say about them, the accommodation and Porthleven itself. The staff are always helpful, the website is easy to navigate, the accommodation is always beautifully presented and looks exactly like it does on the website. We have never encountered a single problem or complaint about any of the cottages we have stayed in. We will definitely be back.
Everything was just as we’d hoped. We had a week in Cornwall to celebrate our daughter’s 40th birthday. Our party consisted of my husband and myself, our daughter, son-in-law and our two granddaughters aged 13 and 15. Also, of course, our two dogs, a German Shepard and a Labrador. Everything we needed was there. It was spotless and very well equipped with lovely quality accessories.
