Mellangoose Mill

As you drive down the hedge-lined Cornish lane and first glimpse Mellangoose Mill nestled in the valley and surrounded by fields, you will feel the calm of this wonderful place. The original millstone that sits at the entrance to the driveway, welcomes you in.

The Farmhouse has been beautifully converted into a spacious and charming family dwelling that can sleep up to 8 people. When you enter the large kitchen you will immediately feel at home in the surroundings.

Inside

The kitchen has a modern Aga, solid timber worktops and is stocked with all you could need for cooking and eating. The dining area forms part of the kitchen and seats 8 people around a country-style table. Adjoining the kitchen/diner is a lovely garden room with large glass windows to three sides and a wood burner for those cooler winter nights. The utility room leads off the garden room and houses the washing machine and a separate toilet. Also downstairs is a family snug room with a woodburning stove, games and books, ideal for use as a children’s playroom when the weather isn’t favourable.

Upstairs are four spacious and cosy bedrooms. There is a king bedroom with an en-suite facing towards the front of the property. The second double bedroom has a king sized bed, a balcony overlooking the garden and en-suite accessible by another door (Jack and Gill) for use by the other bedrooms. The other two spacious bedrooms are a double and a twin.

Outside

Outside there is a Japanese Ofrono style hot tub for two, nestled in extensive mature gardens, that looks towards surrounding fields. The stream, pond, outdoor seating, BBQ area and lawn games housed in the shed, make the garden even more enjoyable. There is parking in the front for 3-4 cars.

Mellangoose Mill is the perfect peaceful retreat, just 5 minutes drive from Porthleven & Helston and 20 minutes from Penzance. The beautiful garden is perfect for families and large groups in the summer. It is also close to the local attractions like St Michael’s Mount, The Minack Theatre, Tate St Ives, The Eden Project plus all the wonderful local beaches.

The location is ideal—just a 4-minute drive to Porthleven and less than 5 minutes to Helston. The cottage itself reminded us of the one from the classic Christmas movie The Holiday! We were especially pleased with the cleanliness, spacious garden, well-equipped kitchen, and the quality of the bedrooms and showers.

A thoughtful welcome tray and an informative welcome folder were lovely touches. One of the most convenient perks was the free parking permits for Porthleven Shipyard—these saved us money and hassle compared to using public parking every time.

The kitchen had everything we needed for self-catering, including dishwasher tablets and other essentials. The WiFi was excellent, and the cottage is dog-friendly, which was perfect for our stay.

Overall, we were extremely impressed with both the cottage and its location. We would absolutely recommend Mellangoose Mill to others and would happily stay again in the future.”
