About The Old Butchers
Tucked away in a historic part of Porthleven, The Old Butchers is a stylish and spacious home-from-home, perfectly placed just five minutes’ walk from the harbour, shops, and village eateries. With private parking and a lovely enclosed garden, it’s an ideal retreat for families, friends or couples looking to enjoy the best of Cornwall’s coast.
Step inside to find a beautifully designed ground floor with a calming master bedroom that opens straight out onto a sunny deck and the enclosed garden – perfect for relaxed mornings with a coffee. You’ll also find a family bathroom, separate shower room, and a generous utility/boot room – complete with Belfast sink, washer, dryer and plenty of space to store sandy shoes or muddy walking boots. It’s also a fantastic spot for dog owners to clean off furry friends after a beach adventure!
Upstairs, the open-plan living space is a real treat – light-filled with vaulted ceilings, comfy seating, and French doors that open onto a furnished balcony with peaceful views across the village rooftops and countryside beyond. It’s a lovely spot to unwind with a glass of wine after a day exploring.
The well-equipped kitchen includes everything you need for easy holiday cooking, from an electric hob and oven to a dishwasher and wine cooler, plus a DAB radio and Smart TV for laid-back evenings in.
Sleeping arrangements are flexible and thoughtfully styled: a coastal-themed double room named High Tide and a charming single room called The Owl’s Nest, perfect for children or a solo guest.
Outside, the tiered garden offers plenty of places to enjoy the Cornish sunshine – from the deck with dining table to the lower patio with seating. It’s a lovely spot for al fresco meals or simply soaking up the fresh sea air.
Private parking is included – ideal for smaller vehicles or park across the drive for extra space.

Thought the whole process of booking and the communication was excellent. Everything was straight forward, accessing the property was easy and the cottage was spotlessly clean and as described. The information pack at the cottage was comprehensive and the extra touches of wine, biscuits etc was much appreciated. You clearly have a great housekeeping team as it was one of the cleanest properties we've been to. Highly recommend.
Well presented clean accommodation , warm and cosy. Lovely balcony on first floor with good views. Private garden. 3-5 min walk to harbour. Plenty of high quality restaurants and lively pubs.
We had another fantastic stay in Porthleven. The Old Butchers is ideal because of its location so close to town as well as the facilities in the property.
Lovely cottage, especially loved the balcony and the very useful boot room/utility. Delicious biscuits left and tea and milk very welcome after a 9 hour drive. Fab location, gorgeous beach and harbour, great for eating out or just a drink around the harbour area. Loved walking and running around Penrose and Looe Bar. We loved the Old Butchers and would love to come back!
We are 2 adults and a dog and this was ideal for us. The whole property has been decorated and equipped to a high standard and the open plan kitchen/lounge/diner upstairs was comfortable and convenient. We only used the main bedroom (downstairs) which was spacious and convenient for the 2 excellent bathrooms, also opening out to the deck and garden. Bed very comfortable indeed. A big plus was the well-located (right inside the entrance door) and spacious utility room which was perfect for storing outdoor clothing /footwear and dealing with a sometimes mucky dog. The house is only a few minutes walk from the shops and harbour.

The Old Butchers was excellent for our family. Really nice accommodation. It had everything we needed. Location was great for the harbour. Nice being able to sit out on the balcony at night and stargaze. Kids loved the ‘Owls Nest’ room. Will definitely return.

The Old Butchers is a lovely cosy property with good amenities and a lovely feel to it. The boot room is perfect following a muddy walk!!
The accommodation is just perfect and so is the town of Porthleven. We would love to come back to the Old Butcher's but I think we will need to book early to avoid disappointment.
What a fantastic holiday we've just had staying at The Old Butchers. The cottage is lovely and is extremely well kitted out. Everything we needed was provided! The weather was chilly but we found The Old Butchers warm and cosy. The Old Butchers is well situated 5 mins walk from all that Porthleven has to offer. Our dog also had a lovely week too with even dog bowls and a treat provided! I would highly recommend The Old Butchers, we are planning our next trip!
We fell in love with The Old Butcher's, its a perfect holiday home where you find everything you need to have a wonderful stay! Thanks a lot to the owners for their tasteful furnishing and thanks to the housekeeper for keeping it so clean. We would like to stay longer and would like to come back very soon!
A lovely place to stay! This was our third visit to the old butchers and would highly recommend it. The house is finished to a high standard, the owners are very helpful and friendly and made us a lovely lemon drizzle cake!
